alright if your having trouble with elimination, i'll do an example from the homework tonight.

#14

3m-2n=13
m+2n=7

alright the first step to do is to eliminate the easiest.

its basically set up like an addition problem

3m-2n=13
m+2n=7
_______

you want to find the opposites which are -2n and 2n so they cancel out. so now you have an equation. then add them up

3m=13
m=7
_______
4m=20

then divide 4 from both sides

m=5

so then you want to substitute m=5 to either equation.we are going to find n now.

m+2n=7 so substitute m=5 in

5+2n=7 then solve
-5 -5

2/2n=2/2

n=1

so your solution is (5,1)

i hoped this helped

I liked how you decided to "substitute back into the equation and not eliminate all ovre again. Great use of your time. See you in class tomorrow.
